Vintage Embroidered Towels
Vintage embroidered towel 1The first vintage towel illustrated seems at first glance to be quite elaborate, but only the simplest stitches are used in the work. Use lazy-daisy stitch for the leaves, French knots for petals of flowers indicated by dots, while single stitches form the petals indicated by straight lines.

The basket and ribbons arc outlined, the ribbon being filled in with a line of rat-stitch. The towel measures twenty-two inches.

embroidered towelThe second towel is quite novel in design, the petals of the flowers forming a part of the edge, Use white for buttonholing the scallops and tips of petals, and pink for darning the surface of the petals.

Embroidered guest towelAnother pretty guest towel, fifteen inches wide, has a small basket design stamped on one end. The basket itself is done in punched work.
